Dapol unveils Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST production samples

Dapol has unveiled final production samples of the forthcoming Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST for ‘OO’ gauge.

Based on the saddle tanks built by Hawthorn Leslie before they were amalgamated into Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns a large number of these diminutive 0-4-0STs were built for industrial use between 1899 and 1924. Some continued in these roles until the mid 1970s with ten or more examples still existing today in preservation.

Dapol’s all new ‘OO’ gauge model features numerous separately fitted detail items, die-cast compensated chassis and saddle tanks, all wheel pickup, cast wheels, different styles of cab (open or closed), five-pole skew-wound motor, Next18 Digital Command Control (DCC) socket accessed via the lift-off saddle tanks and more.
