The Illusive Shadow Reciprocating Sander by Dspiae is now available via Tyrell Models… and can help with various detail-sanding scenarios, as CHRIS CLIFFORD reports.
While sanding is necessary with most kit builds, it can be a chore… and particularly challenging when your work area is tight/hard to reach. But Dspiae’s Reciprocating Sander – now in stock at Tyrell Models – can make a big difference in completing the task. It comes in a top-opening red and clear-smoked plastic container with magnetic fastening. You receive the sander itself, plus eight detachable heads, each with a differently sized/shaped head. Along with these are 12 sheets of self-adhesive abrasive pads (similar in form to Wet and Dry paper), in different grades – 180, 280, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 – all being colour-coded on the reverse. Simply peel away a pad and attach it to the corresponding head, and begin sanding. There are also colour-coded stickers and these can be applied to the head in question, so you don’t forget which grade of pad has been attached. On that note, head shapes include differently sized rectangles, pointed, square and two sizes of curve.
