Building model railway layouts is always a balance of space, time and cost – and of course choosing what scale to model too, a dilemma I have been facing recently.
‘N’ gauge would fit nicely on a small board, but I want to be able to add and see detail as you can with ‘O’ gauge, but I don’t have enough space for the latter. I could build something in ‘OO’,gauge but that would also be restrictive on space and tricky to get a prototypical look. The ideal combination would be something like ‘O’ gauge detail in the space of a smaller scale.
