DAPOL has introduced a new range of ‘O’ gauge wagons modelling 9ft wheelbase wagons including five-plank and sevenplank opens together with covered salt and lime wagons.
All are being made at its factory in Chirk using new tooling. The specification for the wagons includes a die-cast chassis, compensation, injection moulded bodies, sprung buffers, sprung three-link couplings, turned metal wheels and options within the designs such as side door and end door versions of the seven-plank open wagons.
The first batches arrived in late November 2018 and for review we received samples of the sevenplank open in Lightmoor black with end doors (Cat No. 7F-073-003) and an SLB Oswestry covered lime wagon (7F-017-003) for inspection.
Both feature a superb standard of decoration with crisp application of the body colours as well as excellent printing of the lettering with shading on both of these private owner vehicles. Even the chassis has builder plates on the seven-plank while its axleboxes feature embossed Gloucester logos picked out in white.
