The locomotives are hybrid battery-diesel shunting locomotives developed and built by Clayton Equipment Limited. The locomotives are primarily battery powered, but have an onboard diesel generator to charge them when mains charging is unavailable. The first entered service in 2019 and they have seen use in steelworks, nuclear power plants and, more recently, by Beacon Rail and GBRf.

Revolution Trains' tooling suite is expected to include a die-cast metal chassis and running plate, photo-etched grilles, detailed cab interior, all-wheel pick-up, kinematic close coupling system, five-pole motor with metal gearbox and brass axle bearings, 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) socket with stay alive and anti flicker, interior and exterior lighting and more.

Three liveries are planned with two 'OO' gauge variants for each. CBD90 appears in Beacon Rail livery with a single headlight (Cat No: RT-CL18-BE-001) and with BMAC light cluster (RT-CL18-BE-006). Examples in Tata Steel sky blue are also set to appear as 931 (RT-CBD90-TS-A) and 932 (RT-CBD90-TS-B). Finally, models will appear in Sellafield Ltd livery appearing as 1 (RT-CBD80-SE-A) and 2 (RT-CBD80-SE-B). A sound project for the locomotive has been developed by Legomanbiffo.
