‘TT:120’ Stanier 50ft Full Brake

Hornby’s ‘TT:120’ range continues to go from strength to strength with the recent High Speed Train releases (HM203), and the forthcoming all-new London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) ‘Princess Coronation’ 4-6-2 on the horizon. However, steam era coaching stock has so far been limited to Pullman and BR Mk 1 coaches. That is set to change with the first of the LMS coaching stock arriving with the LMS 50ft Stanier Full Brake (BG).

These versatile coaches were used to carry parcels, small goods and mail as well as provide working space for the guard on passenger and parcels trains. One survives at the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway in Scotland.

Hornby’s all new ‘TT:120’ scale model of the Stanier BG is available in LMS maroon (Cat No: TT4010), BR crimson (TT4039) and BR maroon (TT4035).

For review, we received a BR maroon version, finished as Stanier BG M31040M. As expected, the outline of the coach has been captured well and the sides have neatly moulded detail with door stops, handrails, door handles and hinges present – some separately painted.
