The prize is Hornby’s ‘OO’ gauge air-smoothed ‘Merchant Navy’ 35024 East Asiatic Company in BR lined blue with early crests (Cat No. R3632). 35024 first entered traffic with British Railways’ Southern Region in November 1948 and was allocated to Exmouth Junction Motive Power Depot (MPD) in air-smoothed form until 1959, when it was subsequently rebuilt at Eastleigh Works.
This latest release from Hornby features a highly detailed body, powerful five-pole skew-wound motor, 8-pin DCC decoder socket and space for a 28mm diameter speaker.
