As CHRIS CLIFFORD discovers, new 1/32 markings by Euro Decals, for the Vought Corsair, offer worthy alternative schemes.

EURO DECALS’ NEW 1/32 VOUGHT CORSAIR MARKINGS

If you’re thinking of building the Vought F4U Corsair in 1/32 scale, but would like better choice in markings, Euro Decals can help. The sub-brand of Fantasy Printshop has issued a new sheet, ED-32139 Vought Corsair Collection, and it offers seven sets of markings for US and British airframes, and they’re ideal for anyone contemplating 1/32 kits by Tamiya, Revell or Hobby Craft. It’s a straight upscaling of its recent 1/48 sheet, with different variants being represented – the options being:

•    F4U-1A, NZ5272-NZ5307/307 (combined airframes), 1 Servicing Unit, Royal New Zealand Air Force, Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, October 1944
•    F4U-1, BuNo 15590/590, Capt A R Conant, VMF-215 ‘The Fighting Corsairs’, US Marine Corps, Torokina Air Base, Bougainville, January 1944
•    F4U-1A, SS II SALLY, Service Squadron 11, USMC, Espiritu Santos, Vanuatu Island, New Hebrides, 1945
•    Brewster F3A, JS479/BH2-Q, 718 Naval Air Squadron, Fleet Air Arm, RNAS Ballyhalbert, Northern Ireland, mid-1945
•    F4U-1, BuNo 02310/13 VIVA!, 2nd Lt Kenneth Ambrose Walsh, VMF-124 ‘Wild Aces’, USMC, Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, May 28, 1943
•    Corsair Mk.II, JT260/P54, 757 Naval Operations Training Unit, Fleet Air Arm, Puttalam, Ceylon, July 1944
•    F4U-1A, BuNo 17965/103/K99, VMF-115 ‘Joe's Jokers’, USMC, May 1944

There’s an interesting variation in camouflage schemes, and the inclusion of British/Commonwealth airframes is pleasing too. The sheet costs £32.95 direct from Fantasy Printshop.
