Following the arrival of the much anticipated LMS liveried ‘Princess Coronation’ 4-6-2 in TT:120 (HM207), two BR versions have now joined the line-up and demonstrate how the prototypes changed in their careers.
Our review samples included Stanier ‘Princess Coronation’ 46232 Duchess of Montrose with early crests (Cat No: TT3011M) and 46234 Duchess of Abercorn with late crests (TT3012M). As with the LMS liveried example, decoration was outstanding, with the rich BR green enhanced by the die-cast boiler. The orange lining is applied consistently throughout the model, while printing of nameplates and cabside numbers is crisp and clear.

As these Hornby models represent the prototype in their later years of service, detail differences from the original batch have been incorporated. Most obvious are the double chimney and large smoke deflectors which dramatically alter the outline of the locomotives.
