MASTER-X JUNKERS F.13 RESIN CONVERSION

If you’re seeking a less obvious 1/48 Luftwaffe project, Master-X’s new resin Junkers F.13 conversion is designed for Mikromir’s recent kit.

MASTER-X JUNKERS F.13 RESIN CONVERSION

Czech company Master-X has released an interesting cast-resin conversion designed to transform Mikromir’s 1/48 Junkers F.13.... the world’s first metal airliner. The set (MX 4860.03) changes the model's identity with a full-length upper fuselage and nose decking piece, plus fresh empennage parts and an exhaust, and decals for the Luftwaffe’s WkNr 764/ TV+OO. This machine equipped the Flugzeugführerschule A/B 1, in Görlitz, Germany, during 1940.

Faithful features

All components save for the exhaust feature pleasing, consistent replication of Junkers’ trademark skin corrugation, but the decking part will need wispy casting flash removing from the windscreen openings. Aside from basic neatening on the other pieces, this conversion looks relatively simple, once the requisite styrene elements of Mikromir’s kit have been removed. The new horizontal and vertical stabilisers are noticeably larger than those on the donor kit and are shaped differently.

This looks to be a simple and fun conversion for modellers enthusiastic about the type – especially if you want a less obvious Luftwaffe aircraft build. The retail price is €30 direct from Master-X.

Note that Master-X has released other conversions for Mikromir’s F.13 and we’ll cover these in the coming weeks.
