GNR 8ton box van from Rapido

The Great Northern Railway (GNR) 8ton box van is the latest wagon to be announced by Rapido Trains UK in ‘OO’ gauge.Livery artwork has been completed.

Introduced from the early 1900s with four different body types, further developments were introduced for specialised traffic such as gunpowder. The wagons lasted into BR service, but the sole example earmarked for preservation was scrapped.

Rapido Trains plans to replicate the numerous differences the prototypes carried - specifically the ventilation arrangements and wagons with stepped and non-stepped ends. Wagons will also feature metal bearings and label clips for modellers to fit.

New from Rapido Trains Uk is the GNR 8t box van.

15 vans are set to be produced with GNR liveried examples 10959 (Cat No: 930001), 21000 (930002), 55101 in explosives form (930003), 8354 in insulated meat colours (930004) and 20962 in fruit livery (930005).

This announcement is part of a series in the run-up to the Rapido Railex Exhibition in late September.

London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) vans appear as 416790 (930006), 427422 (930007) and 439058 (930008), all with NE in large letters. Additionally,  427428 (930009), 439093 (930010) and 420981 (930011) appear in post-1936 condition, also with NE branding.

Completing the line-up are BR E428862 (930012), E420542 (930013) and E427442 (930014) and tool van E432764 (930015).

Engineering samples have been received and pre-orders are currently open which individual wagons priced at £34.95 each. No release date has been announced
