Spalding Model Railway Exhibition 2023 Preview

The countdown is on to the 2023 Spalding Model Railway Exhibition at Springfields Events Centre, Camel Gate, Spalding on the weekend of November 4 and 5.

Hosted by Spalding Model Railway Club, this year’s show is set to feature more than 20 outstanding exhibition layouts, together with a host of trade stands and demonstrations.

Amongst the layouts set to appear at Spalding this year are Barrowmore Model Railway Group’s ‘P4’ scale model of Mostyn, set on the North Wales Coast main line in the summer of 1977 and Hornby Magazine’s ‘OO’ gauge BR Western Region terminus Grosvenor Square (HM136), which will be its first exhibition appearance in more than four years.

Several of this year’s layouts have also appeared in Hornby Magazine, including Milton Keynes Model Railway Society’s ‘N’ gauge Brinklow (HM151), St Neots Model Railway Club’s ‘OO’ gauge East Quay (HM189), Redditch Model Railway Club’s ‘OO’ gauge Smallwood (HM151), Ian Woodward’s ‘OO’ gauge Wardwood (HM189) and Ray Taylor and Anna Bass’ White Meadow Quarry for ‘N’ (HM196).

Further layout highlights include Carl Bowden’s ‘OO’ gauge Alderford, David Smith’s ‘EM’ gauge Brighton East, Graham Morfoot’s ‘OO’ gauge Gracetown Bank, Nick and Norman Hughes’ ‘O’ gauge Hyde Lane, Andy Stephney’s ‘N’ gauge King’s Park, James Spence’s ‘OO’ gauge Kirby on Sea and Wimborne Railway Society’s ‘OO9’ Tarrant Valley Railway.

Continental outline layouts due to appear this year include Phil Baggley’s Nazareth Portland (USA ‘N’) and Macclesfield Model Railway Group’s Purgatory Peak (On-30).

An impressive collection of trade support has also been gathered including B&H Models, Brickyard Models, DC Kits – DE Videos, Digitrains, H&A Models, Joe Lock Model Railways, Andy Lynch Railways, Masons Models, Mark’s Trains, Mount Tabor Models, North Road Trains, P&D Marsh, Petite Properties, Plus Daughters, Railway Artist James Green, Squires Tools and Trains4U.

Hornby Magazine will be at the show once again with special show-only offers on subscriptions and books, together with our latest limited edition models, laser-cut kits and 3D-printed accessories. Bachmann Europe will also be in attendance with displays of its latest ‘OO’, ‘N’ and ‘OO9’ releases, plus in-development engineering prototype samples of forthcoming projects.

Refreshments will be available throughout the weekend, including cooked meals.

Doors open at 10am each day – 9.30am for advance ticket holders and disabled visitors – with tickets priced at £10 for adults, while accompanied children under 16 will be admitted free. Advance tickets are available to book through the Spalding Model Railway Club’s website. HM
