Czech company Special Hobby has quickly followed its new-tool 1/72 F-84F Thunderstreak with a French Air Force Suez Crisis boxing.
In a not entirely unsurprising move, Special Hobby has re-released its recent 1/72 F-84F Thunderstreak with a fresh set of colour schemes. The decal sheet with item SH 72492 ‘Operation Musketeer/Kadesh’ carries two sets of markings for French Air Force machines involved in the Suez Crisis in 1956. A third option replicates a St Dizier, France-based airframe.
This decal sheet is extensive, as it provides all necessary tail/fuselage stripe artwork present on each jet, unit/national insignia, plus a mass of stencils. The airframes are:
• F-84F-51GK, 29075/3-VS, EC 3/3 ‘Ardennes’, French Air Force, RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus, autumn 1956
• F-84F-51GK, 29029/1-NX, EC 1/1 ‘Corse’, French Air Force, Basis Chel Ha’Avir, Israel, autumn, 1956
• F-84F-46GK, 28844/1-PB, EC 3/1 ‘Argonne’, French Air Force, Base Aérienne St Dizier, France, 1957
This French Air Force boxing is available direct from Special Hobby for €21.19, but it’s also at Hannants in the UK.
Above: Each of the options in Special Hobby's new F-84F boxing is highly attractive.
