Mark I has turned its hand to aftermarket decals, which is a boon for anyone building 1/72 Bristol Brigand kits, as CHRIS CLIFFORD reports.
While it may not have been the most successful aircraft, the Bristol Brigand is nonetheless an interesting modelling subject. Whether you’re building Valom’s short-run styrene offerings, the Magna resin kit or older vacforms, the new 1/72 decals from Czech firm Mark I provide quality alternative markings. Well printed with gloss carrier film and good opacity, the decals (item DMF7205) cater for various Brigand sub-types, wearing different liveries. The six choices are:
• TF Mk.I, RH748, Bristol Aircraft trials airframe, Filton aerodrome, Gloucestershire and SBAC show, Radlett, Notts, UK, September 1946
• B Mk.1, RH813/H ‘The Bridal Brigand’, 84 Squadron RAF, Habbaniya, Iraq, June 1949
• B Mk.1, VS855/OB-V, 45 Squadron RAF, Tengah and Labuan, British Malaya, 1950-51
• Met Mk.3, VS820/B, 1301 (Meteorological) Flight RAF, Negombo, Ceylon, 1949-51
• T Mk.4, RH758, Airborne Interception (AI) School, 238 Operational Conversion Unit RAF, Colerne, Wiltshire, 1955-56
• T Mk.5, VS837/N, Airborne Interception (AI) School, 238 Operational Conversion Unit RAF, Colerne, Wiltshire, 1954-55
Varied liveries
Paint combinations are Extra Dark Sea Grey and Sky/Medium Sea Grey and Black/sprayed aluminium. This is a useful sheet regardless of which Brigand you are building, but note that various sub-types are currently available at Hannants in the UK and other retailers. The decals cost £9.50 when ordered direct from 4+ Publications, but they are also at Hannants in the UK for £11.20.
